Professor David Hadden

For almost twelve years, David Hadden has with care and considerable patience edited The Ulster Medical Journal. During that period over four hundred papers have arrived on his desk in their various shapes and states ranging from the highly polished, nearly ready for the printer, to those in 'kit' form (minus a plan) requiring him to assemble them into a coherent whole. The ability to write in clear idiomatic English is not exactly a priority in our scientific and medical curricula yet its possession is vital if good work is to receive just recognition. Professor Hadden has a keen eye for prolixity or other verbal fog, and a great many of us owe this highly skilled yet kindly critic a considerable debt for his bold black pen strokes. Thanks to him The Ulster Medical Journal has thrived and will continue to be a unique archive of medical activity here.
